In a water and wastewater program, students learn chemistry and ecological aspects of water and wastewater, as well as water treatment and management processes. We will cover the operation of various types of water treatment facilities and the equipment they use to manage and treat water.
Today, significant technological advances in water treatment, including monitoring and assessment, make it possible to provide high-quality drinking water to the public. In most cases, the water treatment process is determined by the source of water and its initial condition. Water treatment technology deals with a number of potential hazards caused by water movement from its source to its tap.
This process involves removing contaminants such as inorganic and organic materials, chemicals, and biological compounds from water. Additionally, the process includes distillation (simply converting a liquid into a vapor so that it can be re-condensed back to a liquid) and deionization (removal of ions by extracting dissolved salts). Clean drinking water is one of the main purposes of water purification.
